I am so excited and wanted to talk about this amazing Romantic Suspense book I came across by Jane Blythe, One. Yes it has the romance piece that I love looking for. But sometimes I get a little bored and feel like every romance novel starts to sound the same. What I love with One, is that you have the whole love interest thing going on, but this book goes beyond it. I have read some Suspense Novels where it was too easy to figure out “Who the killer is” “What, When, and the Why it happened”. I get bored easily with those stories. One goes through your mind on the get go. One is eerily suspenseful, and has you looking over your shoulder every once in awhile. The story would stay with me after a good while when I had to put it down.
Annabelle and Xavier are our two main characters. They both are a little bit broken from their past. One feels like they have no more love to give, and the other feels like they are unlovable. So you can see that these two are a perfect pair. You can truly see how they when you find your soulmate, they are truly your other half. Now as you read in the blurb, there is a killer on the loose and seems to be only after families ( father, mother, and kids) and only leaves one to survive. Annabelle has gone through so much and trying to live through the horror of this mess. The characters were great and I like that this story shows that they know what they are doing in the field of forensics.
This book was like watching a movie. I got the chills, I flinched, and had so many emotions happening at one time. I was a mess at the end when Xavier had to make a choice that was HUGE! And yes it made a difference at the end. This causes some loose ends with the killer. So what now? I know in the second book, Two, there will be more twists and turns that will eventually come back to the original characters. The ending for One left you in almost a cliffhanger way. There was a little bit of closure, but still a major factor left open. Are you dying to find a really good romantic suspense book? Try this one. I bet your mind will start racing once you open the book just like mine did! This book is the reason why I love suspense and thriller novels!
Annabelle Englewood slaughters her family while they sleep.
Or so it seems to Detective Xavier Montague when he and his partner arrive at her house to find her sleeping peacefully, her family all dead.
But then another family and another are murdered, again with one family member left alive, and it becomes clear that Annabelle is simply a pawn in a vicious killer’s game.
Intrigued by Annabelle, the first woman Xavier has been attracted to since his divorce, when he comes face to face with the killer he will be forced to make the ultimate choice, a life and death decision, that could let a psychotic murderer walk free.
Jane has loved reading and writing since she can remember. She writes dark and disturbing crime/mystery/suspense with some romance thrown in because, well, who doesn’t love romance? She has one completed series, Detective Parker Bell, and one new series, Count to Ten.
When she’s not writing Jane loves to read, anything romantic suspensey; bake, anything chocolatey; go to the beach, ski, horse ride, and watch Disney movies. She has a black belt in Taekwondo, and a 200+ collection of teddy bears. She has the world’s two most sweet and pretty Dalmatians, Ivory and Pearl. Oh and she also enjoys spending time with family and friends!
